Veteran Chinese filmmaker Wong Kar-Wai is among directors backing a new government-funded initiative to re-energise Hong Kong’s film industry, following the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Funding of HK$100m is available under the new Directors’ Succession Scheme in partnership with the Hong Kong Film Development Fund, and Kar-Wai will work alongside young filmmakers to produce projects using a government subsidy, with Hong Kong's Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Edward Yau, commenting 'As a result of social events and the epidemic, local film production and investment have shrunk, posing acute challenges to the trade and practitioners in the past year. The Government is therefore committed to providing multi-pronged support for the trade to go through this difficult period and sustaining the success story of Hong Kong films'.

British influencer and makeup artist Lottie Tomlinson has been announced as an ambassador for national healthcare charity Sue Ryder, encouraging 'more people to speak openly about grief and to raise the profile of the free video counselling service provided by the charity'. Tomlinson, who's lost both her mother and sister in the last five years, said 'You need to keep talking about it otherwise you get lost in your feelings and that can send you into a really dark place.
