Stars of the small screen gathered at Coutts & Co on The Strand to celebrate the nominees for this year's BAFTA TV Awards, which take place on May 27. Hollywood star Johnny Depp jetted to London for the UK premiere of Tim Burton's new film Dark Shadows, hitting the purple carpet at The Empire, Leicester Square. New York fashion editor and socialite Derek Blasberg was in London to promote his style guide Very Classy, hosting a cocktail party at the Gucci store on Bond Street, followed by a private dinner at The Soho Hotel. London's society crowd piled into Mayfair's hottest new members' club Scotch for the launch of the Johnny Walker Blue Label Club, a new business and social networking club for London's elite. Jackson Scott performed an intimate acoustic set while Ben Elliot, Zara Martin, Jade Williams, David Gandy, Tyrone Wood, Marcus Wareing and Henry Cavill sampled the Johnny Walker drinks on offer, as James Middleton chatted outside with Nick Candy and Jamie Reuben.

Despite suffering from bronchitis, legendary French shoe designer Christian Louboutin was in good spirits as he unveiled his career retrospective at a private view at the Design Museum - followed by a party until late at The Club at the Ivy. He was joined by muses Daphne Guinness, Sophie Dahl and Dita Von Teese who hit the dancefloor as Henry Holland took to the DJ booth playing old school Madonna. Much-loved British director Richard Curtis introduced one of his favourite films, National Lampoon's Animal House, at a special screening at the Electric Cinema in Notting Hill as part of Grand Classics screening to celebrate Universal Pictures 100 years. The great and the good of the restaurant world turned out for the annual S Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants Awards at The Guildhall on Gresham Street. TV chef Gizzi Erskine, Angela Hartnett, Juan Mari Arzak, Rene Redzepi and Raymond Blanc stopped by to see Noma in Copenhagen named the world's best restaurant in the world while Heston Blumenthal's Dinner was named best restaurant in the country.

US superstar Rufus Wainwright was joined by his sister Martha Wainwright for the screening of Lian Lunson's documentary Sing Me The Songs That Say I Love You - A Concert for Kate McGarrigle, about the music of their late mother, closing Sundance London. Nick Cave showed up to see the film and stuck around as the Wainwrights performed an intimate set featuring McGarrigle's music.

Stars from EastEnders, Corrie, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks glammed up for the most important date in the soap calendar - The British Soap Awards at the London Studios. While EastEnders picked up Best Soap, Michelle Keegan walked away with Sexiest Female and Scott Maslen won Sexiest Male and other winners included Katherine Kelly, Lorna Fitzgerald, Danny Miller and Stephanie Cole. After the ceremony, hosted by Phillip Schofield, guests including Mark Wright, Lauren Pope and Dionne Bromfield headed over to Café de Paris for the afterparty.

Joanna Lumley joined M&S boss Marc Bolland for a party at the Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane to celebrate the launch of the brand's new sustainable fashion pop-up lab. Simon Cowell was the surprise guest at controversial biographer Tom Bower's launch party for Sweet Revenge: The Intimate Life of Simon Cowell at the Serpentine. The X Factor judge, who's yet to speak out on the book's claims about his personal life, made it clear that he held no bad feelings against its author as he spent the evening chatting to Bower and other guests including Sir Philip Green, Chloe Green, Peter Waterman, Bernie Ecclestone, Sir Stuart Rose, Alison Jackson, Ian Hislop, Ronni Ancona and Kathy Lette.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge braved the weather as they took to a rather soggy red carpet for the premiere of African Cats, Alastair Fothergill and Keith Scholey's documentary about the lives of two cat families and their cubs, at the BFI Southbank. US teen heartthrob Zac Efron jetted to London for the UK premiere of his new film The Lucky One, greeting his screaming fans on the red carpet of the Chelsea Cinema on the King's Road after stopping by Bluebird for a pre-party. Matilda the Musical swept the board at this year's Olivier Awards at the Royal Opera House, hosted by Imelda Staunton and Michael Ball, picking up a record seven accolades. Jonny Lee Miller picked up the Best Actor award which he shared with Benedict Cumberbatch for Frankenstein while Jude Law's rumoured new girlfriend Ruth Wilson showed up to collect the Best Actress prize for Anna Christie. Australian A-lister Cate Blanchett celebrated the first night of her new play Gross und Klein (Big and Small), directed by Benedict Andrews at the Barbican Theatre, as part of its 30th birthday celebrations. Former X Factor winner Alexandra Burke was at London's new hotspot The Rose Club to launch her new lipgloss LipBloom, created in collaboration with MUA Cosmetics. Lasse Hallstrom's romantic drama Salmon Fishing in the Yemen received its European premiere at the Odeon Kensington, with stars Emily Blunt and Ewan McGregor hitting the red carpet. Joined by co-stars Tom Mison and Amr Waked, screenwriter Simon Beaufoy and producer Paul Webster also attended, as did McGregor's old motorcycling companion Charley Boorman. National treasure David Suchet made his return to the stage in Anthony Page's production of Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize-winning play Long Day's Journey Into Night at the Apollo Theatre. TOWIE cast past and present were out in force for the most important day in the Essex fashion calendar - Essex Fashion Week. Brit artist and YBA Mat Collishaw launched a series of new works titled The Venal Muse, Envirico, alongside new pieces by Wolfe von Lenkiewicz and Francesca Lowe at Damien Hirst's Other Criteria gallery on New Bond Street. London's art crowd was out in force to toast the joint show, including Collishaw's partner, celebrated taxidermist Polly Morgan.

British R&B star Labrinth took to the stage at One Mayfair during a party to celebrate the launch of his debut album Electronic Earth. The London-born producer and musician, who's a long time friend of Tinie Tempah, was joined by friends including Lucien Laviscount, Amy Bailey, Bluey Robinson and MOBO CEO Kanya King who watched the star perform an accoustic set before tucking into hot dogs and cocktails. Everyone then headed over to hot new venue The Rose Club to carry on the party.

Stars of the art world turned out for Damien's Hirst's private view at Tate Modern, this year's most talked about retrospective. Friends of the controversy-courting artist including Ronnie Wood, Noel Fielding, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Peter Blake, Keith Allen, Sasha Volkova and Janet Street-Porter all stopped by to see some of Hirst's best-known pieces as did art power couple Jay Jopling and Rachel Barrett and art fanatic Russell Tovey.

Olympic ambassador Tracey Emin gave the Damien Hirst opening a miss to attend the launch of Flight BA2012, a new airline-inspired pop-up restaurant on Shoreditch High street. The former YBA was joined by Heston Blumenthal, Gemma Arterton, Richard E Grant, Danielle Lineker and Mr Hudson who sat down to sample the food, which will be served on British Airway flights later this month, while Daisy Lowe took to the DJ booth.

Director Lindsay Posner celebrated the opening night of her production of Noises Off at the Novello Theatre, as cast including Janie Dee, Robert Glenister, Celia Imrie and Jamie Glover took to the stage. The comedy transferred to the West End following a succesful run at the Old Vic. Friends including Olivia Colman, Tom Hiddleston, Ronnie Corbett, Kathy Lette, Brendan Coyle, Patricia Routledge and Andrew Scott showed up to toast the first night and all headed over to The Savoy for the afterparty and a glass or two of champagne.

Stars of the Harry Potter franchise including Rupert Grint, Tom Felton, Evanna Lynch, Warwick Davis, David Thewlis and Bonnie Wright showed up to officially open the highly anticipated Warner Bros Studio Tour: The Making Of Harry Potter at the Leavesden Studios. Potter fans including Guy Ritchie, Ol Parker and Culture Secretary Ed Vaizey brought their kids along while stars including Eddie Redmayne, Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes hit the red carpet.

Irish heartthrob Liam Neeson hit the red carpet at the BFI Imax last night for the premiere of his new film Wrath of the Titan, Jonathan Liebesman's follow-up to Clash of the Titans. He was joined by co-stars Sam Worthington and Toby Kebbell although Ralph Fiennes and Rosamund Pike were no-shows. Guests including Ozwald Boateng, and EastEnders' Tony Discipline and Jacqueline Jossa showed up to see the Ancient Greek adventure.

London party boy Jack Guinness took to the decks at the Jack Spade store launch party on Brewer Street, joined in the DJ booth by Isaac Ferry and Fionnan Honan. Actors including Christian Cooke, Tom Hughes, Jack Fox and Oliver Jackson-Cohen stopped by to get look at the brand's first UK store and embrace the warm weather with a few glasses of Pimms. Everyone, including Zara Martin and Henry Conway, then headed across the road to the basement at Hix where the cocktails were in full flow.

Ahead of the grand opening of the Warner Bros Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter at Leavesden Studios, stars of the films Rupert Grint, Tom Felton, Evanna Lynch and Warwick Davis met the press and posed for pictures. Joining them on the set of Diagon Alley were producers David Heyman and David Barron, as well as the director of the final three films David Yates. Once the attraction officially opens, visitors will get to walk through the famous locations - including Hogwarts and the Ministry of Magic - that brought the world of Harry Potter to life on the big screen.

Style maven and editor of British Vogue turned novelist hosted a party at Sotheby's on Bond Street to celebrate the release of her debut Can We Still Be Friends. The fashion set, including Roland Mouret, Oscar Humphries, Christopher Bailey, Bella Freud and Mario Testino showed up to celebrate, as did retail bosses Sir Philip Green and Sir Stuart Rose, Sophie Dahl, Nigella Lawson, Antony Gormley, Conde Nast's Nicholas Coleridge and Tatler editor Kate Reardon.

BBC political presenter Andrew Neil hosted a party at the Asprey store on Bond Street to celebrate the launch of Spectator Life, a new lifestyle magazine from the publishers of Spectator. A heavily pregnant Peaches Geldof showed off her baby bump and stuck close to boyfriend Thomas Cohen while Martha Freud chatted to friends Jonathan Yeo, Oscar Humphries and new Mail on Sunday editor Geordie Greig. Stars of Peter Berg's upcoming action film Battleship, Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker and Rihanna, joined the director to pose for pictures at the Corinthia Hotel, as they also met press to promote the film. Taking advantage of London's glorious sunshine, the photocall with the cast moved to the rooftop overlooking the city, with Rihanna appearing bright-eyed despite partying into the early hours with Drake the night before.

James Cameron may have been seven miles under the sea just two days before, but he managed to swap his diving gear for a suit in time for the premiere of Titanic 3D at the Royal Albert Hall. Kate Winslet showed up to see the re-mastered version of the 1997 film that launched her career, joined by co-stars Billy Zane, Suzy Amis, Rochelle Rose and Bill Paxton while Made in Chelsea stars Caggie Dunlop, Gabriella Ellis and Francesca Hull, new Doctor Who companion Jenna Louise Coleman, Edith Bowman and Dexter Fletcher hit the red carpet.

Dance fans including Geri Halliwell and Brett Anderson turned out for the opening night of The Most Incredible Thing, a dance collaboration between the Pet Shop Boys and choreographer Javier De Frutos at the Sadler's Wells Theatre. After watching the performance, a modern fairytale based on the Hans Christian Andersen fable, which features a cast of 16 dancers and a live orchestra, guests stuck around for a drinks reception and to congratulate the performers.
