Rising Stars: Mustafa

Mustafa, who's written songs for Usher, Camila Cabello and The Weeknd in the past, is establishing himself as a promising solo artist. The spoken word artist turned singer's 2020 breakout single, Stay Alive, commented on the struggles faced by young people growing up in Regent Park (his neighbourhood and Canada’s oldest public housing project), and he continued to address the adversity that shaped him with his latest single, Ali, which mourns the loss of his friend who was shot and killed in 2017. Following the release, the 24 year old announced his debut album, When Smoke Rises, due out on May 28 through his own label Regent Park Songs.
