Rising Stars: William Gao

William Gao, a London based actor, singer/songwriter and pianist, made his TV debut in April, starring as Tao Xu in Netflix series Heartstopper, alongside Olivia Colman. The 19 year old is also one half of the jazz music duo Wasia Project, who released their debut EP, How Can I Pretend, with tracks including Why Don't U Love Me and Ur So Pretty, earlier this month. Gao also boasts theatre credits including A Midsummer Night's Dream at Glyndebourne Opera and Shakespeare 400 at the Royal Festival Hall, and has been profiled by The Face and Viewties magazines.
